Castro Valley is a
bedroom town with a country atmosphere in the hills east of San
Leandro and Hayward. Many lovely homes, not opulent, but often
large and well care for are located here. Many homes have
great views of the San Francisco Bay and sunsets and this has pushed
the town up market. In the canyons and on the outskirts are
located many horse ranches.
School scores rank high here -
in the top 20% of the state. Many professionals move into
Castro Valley for its schools.
Castro Valley is
unincorporated, which means it is governed from Oakland by the
county board of supervisors. In reality, much local control
has devolved to community groups. Castro Valley is a part of
the Hayward Area Recreation District which offers many parks and
recreational activities. |
